Founded in 2002, Le Groupe Lyceum (LGL)/The Lyceum Group (TLG) is a private New Brunswick Canada based consulting company and CDO (Community Development Organization) focused on the Republic of Guinea in West Africa. It operates in Guinea as ONG Groupe Lyceum with offices in Conakry, the capital city, and a rural community development facility in the village of Dominghia, District of Boffa. Its mission is to enact development projects that are driven by local demand, utilizing indigenous staff, addressing needs of disadvantaged rural people, and those programs that fulfill CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
The Group provides consulting services, design and implementation, and project management in the fields of health care delivery, health care research, education (primary, community development training, and alphabetization), and social value services such as microfinance. The group functions as an international collective that brings together an array of knowledgeable professionals, collaborating to apply seasoned skills to demand driven needs. The management of the collective balances three dimensions: as an economic organization, as a human organization, and as an increasingly important social organization.
Since its inception, Lyceum has successfully managed community development projects in Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, Kenya and Ghana. By partnering with over one dozen local NGOs (Non Government Organizations), government agencies, companies, and other organizations with interests in West Africa, over thirty sustainable projects have been completed to date. This success has been enhanced by a well-developed and nurtured network of academic and business affiliations in Canada, the United States, Europe and Africa.
Governance and control of this humanitarian initiative is fulfilled by an Advisory Committee of ten influential and experienced persons, and ten appointed Associates that contribute significantly to the enactment of programs in West Africa.
